eTHRIVE Telehealth Equipment used on Remote Area Medical’s New Mobile Telehealth Unit

On April 28, 2023, the eTHRIVE Telehealth Equipment was used while serving 9 patients in Grainger County, TN on RAM’s New Mobile Telehealth Unit. The mobile telehealth unit, secured and discovered by RAM CEO Jeff Eastman, will increase access to care and continue to further RAM’s mission to provide free quality health care to those in need. For many underserved communities, the feasibility of having the time, money, and transportation is a major barrier to seeking care, which often leads to worsening health outcomes leading to severe progression of disease. RAM’s Mobile Telehealth Unit bridges this gap by bringing care to the people. The Mobile Telehealth Unit can be stationed in remote areas such as this BP station in rural Grainger County, TN. The internet is powered by a Starlink device, which only needs a clear view of the sky to function. The Mobile Telehealth Unit continues to use the site-based telehealth model with a provider being available via distance and a volunteer RAM nurse at the patient’s side to provide hands-on care. The telehealth equipment purchased through eTHRIVE will continue to be used to serve the patients who seek care through the mobile unit and enhance the quality of assessment and care RAM provides. Kim Worley, RAM Telehealth Clinic Coordinator, and Stephen Blackstock, RAM Telehealth Manager, are planning for more dates and locations for the Mobile Telehealth Unit.
